Punch Strainer

ca. 1760-70

Daniel Boyer , Boston

American, 1725 - 1779

Dating from the same period as the Syng, Jr. punch bowl listed above, this piece offers an unusual form in early American silver, which represents another aspect of Ruth’s collecting. It can be installed with the punch bowl, either beside it or across the bowl. Strainers were used when adding spiced fruit juices to punch; often made of water, sugar and spirits, usually rum.
