Autumn Landscape

On a narrow scroll form, the painter creates a misty valley by using gradations of soft sumi-ink. Only the maple leaves are tinted red in the foreground. Kishi Chikud? encourages viewers to picture in their minds a panoramic mountain view extending beyond the edges of the painting. He is also known for applying Western perspective and shading techniques, and for his depiction of birds and animals. This tranquil landscape, created in his mid-sixties, is a reflection of the artist's deep appreciation of nature.
