Man's hair ornament

19th-20th century

Male nomads of eastern Tibet wore this ornament attached to a braid of hair or a scarf and slanted over one eye. At the top, a kirttimiuka head connects to two arms embracing, holding a single coral bead. Beneath, two makaras resembling Chinese dragons swirl with their tiny snouts, claws and thick tails.
