Susan Wawatkin Bedal

Sauk, 1865-1947

This sturdy basket could be used for food gathering or food storage. Susan Bedal, a well-known basket maker from Sauk—with easy access to river, prairie, and mountain ecosystems—would have gathered spring shoots, summer berries, and several varieties of wild roots.
