First Nations, Cowichan, born 1966

Salazar studied with several well-known artists and was influenced by Simon Charlie. Hand-crafted drums are often painted with stories, or with the maker's visions or experiences. This one shows the eagle and salmon: the eagle as the protector of the people and the salmon as their primary sustenance.
