Coffeepot

Coffeepot

ca. 1735

Jacob Hurd , Boston

American, 1703 - 1758

This early coffeepot is Jacob Hurd’s late baroque design, with straight lines, reserved ornament, and symmetrical engraving. This more restrained baroque style, originating at the end of French King Louis XIV’s reign, was disseminated throughout Europe by Huguenot refugees, many of whom were silversmiths.
