American, born 1937

This artist book includes black-and-white images of thirty records released between 1959 and 1970. The musical genres represented range from soul, blues, and jazz to funk, country, folk, mariachi, and rock and roll. In his usual deadpan format, Ruscha points to the aesthetics and values conveyed by different genres, each with its own followers.
