Kettle stand

ca. 1760

With the advent of specialized tea tables in the late 1600s, stands for silver hot-water kettles were introduced. Rococo elements decorate this stand. A "piecrust" top sits upon a fluted and acanthus-carved column support. The double-curved cabriole legs are carved with shells and husks and end with claw-and-ball feet.
