American Art

Selections from the museum's collections of historical American paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts are on view throughout the building. Currently masterworks of 19th century American landscape painting can be seen on the museum's third floor. Stop by to see outstanding examples by the country's leading painters of landscape: Albert Bierstadt, Frederic Church and Sanford Gifford.

Seattle Art Museum acknowledges that we are on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish and the customary territories of the Suquamish and Muckleshoot Peoples. As a cultural and educational institution, we honor our ongoing connection to these communities past, present, and future. We also acknowledge the urban Native peoples from many Nations who call Seattle their home.
