Figurine

1200 - 500 B.C.

These very early figures from Mexico portray the human form in less than three inches.

They are often the sole survivors of small farming communities who left no legacy of architecture, stonecarving, or metalwork. A profusion of female images, carefully modeled with tiny bits of clay, are all that is found in their burial sites. Despite their small size, these women appear very lively-wearing necklaces, earspools, and varied hairstyles.
