Curtis' caption for this photograph reads: "This aged woman, daughter of the Chief Siahl, was for many years a familiar figure in the streets of Seattle." Kikisebloo, or Princess Angeline, was the daughter of Chief Seattle (si?aA). She lived near the Seattle waterfront during a time when Natives were increasingly pressured to leave the city and move to reservations.
