Hot Water Kettle, Stand and Lamp

Large kettles with spirit lamps were in use from about 1690 to 1760. They provided a supply of boiling water to the hostess who brewed tea for her guests in the drawing room. The inverted pear shape of this kettle was a popular rococo form.
