Label TextHoriuchi immigrated to the United States with his family at age fourteen, ending up in Rock Springs, Wyoming. There, the self-taught artist worked long days at the Union Pacific Railroad and painted in what little spare time he could find. This painting, made years after Horiuchi left Wyoming for Seattle, recalls the snowy landscape of that time and place.
