Siva killing the elephant demon

Siva killing the elephant demon

ca. 10th century

Siva, as the slayer of demons, is shown here in a victory pose as he holds the flayed skin of the elephant demon above his head. Powerful diagonals and the deep undercutting of the stone panel emphasize the strength of the god in overcoming his enemies.
