Scalloped Plate

ca. 1756

This style of decoration is commonly referred to as brocaded Imari because some of the radiating panels resemble brocaded textiles. It is probably the pattern listed in the Chelsea sales records in 1756 as "a rare [or fine] old japan pattern blue and gold."
