Civil Official Insignia

mid-late 19th century

This man's wedding robe, with hyungbae or a badge of rank on the chest, indicates a style of official robe for courtiers. Embroidery of a crane flying with a branch from the tree of eternal youth in its beak indicates the ranking for civil officials (in this example, the lower six out of nine levels)."
