Plate
Dateca. 1741-43
Label TextThe design for this plate is attributed to Johann Friederich Eberlein (1695–1749). By the 1740s, Meissen table services were in great demand among the European aristocracy. This plate is from a service delivered between 1741 and 1743 to Russian Tsarina Elizabeth I Petrovna (r. 1741–1761), called the Elizabeth I of Russia Service. Elizabeth became a collector of Meissen porcelain, and around 1744 she established her own imperial manufactory in St. Petersburg.
