Plate

ca. 1800

The pattern on these three plates from a set of six depicts chrysanthemums and plum blossoms separated by a highly stylized rock form. All three motifs are natural symbols of longevity. The auspicious design is complemented by a four-character mark on the reverse that reads "fuki choshun," or "wealth, nobility, longevity and youth."
