Sauce boat
Dateca. 1735
Label TextThis sauceboat is painted with fantastic imaginary animals in a style attributed to the Meissen painter Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck. Several services with weird, splotchy-coated, heraldic-seeming animals strolling through flower-bedecked landscapes were produced between 1735 and 1740. The shape, scalloped edge, and scrolled handle of this sauceboat appeared in both porcelain and silver at this time.
