Label TextThis design of paired cranes with their beaks touching a tortoise-shaped handle is characteristic of Japanese mirrors made during the Muromachi period. Here, the typical motif is combined with stylized quince blossoms (mokkō-mon), a design found on many decorative arts and textiles of the period, as well as in heraldry.
