Joseph Telling His Dreams

Joseph Telling His Dreams

1638

Rembrandt van Rijn

Dutch, 1606-1669

The Old Testament tells of how Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers, who were jealous that he was his father's favorite. In Egyptian captivity, he caught the attention of the Pharaoh by describing his dreams that prophesied the future. Here his vivid narration holds a group of priests and courtiers enthralled.
