late 13th-early 14th century

Inscribed with Fuyuan wangjia zhao ("Made by the Wang family of Fuyuan"), this rectangular pillow is decorated with narrative scenes executed in black. The scenes may have derived from woodblock printed illustrations of popular literature and drama.
