Equestrian figure
17th century
The grace and power of horses made them ideal subjects for painters and sculptors from ancient times. The celebrated Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci made a number of drawings and wax models of rearing horses, which influenced later generations of artists, as in these examples.
