Farmer's jacket (noragi)

early 20th century

Made of cotton scraps, this jacket illustrates the ways in which simple materials were reused to create functional objects. The colorful strips of decorated fabric were woven as the wefts (horizontal threads) of the jacket, creating attractive patterning.
