Praying mantis on a vine

Date19th century
Label TextThe mineral jadeite did not come into use in China until the late 18th century, when it began to be imported from Burma. Jadeite's brilliant apple green and emerald tones were the most prized, while nephrite of a pure white and yellow was highly coveted- though a broad range of colors made both fashionable in different periods and contexts.
