First page from a book

early 16th century

This page, now separated from its original volume, provides an introduction for many pages to follow. It promises “selections from the wise men and books of the ancients.” Written in the graceful nasta’liq script, framed by perfectly asymmetrical vines and flowers, this page can only hint at the artistry of the contents when the book was intact.
