Saucer
Dateca. 1723-25
Label TextThis saucer is an excellent example of the fanciful, sometimes odd scenes depicted in chinoiserie. Here, an exotically robed gentleman in a feather-eared cap is attempting to drive a sta-tionary chair harnessed to two tortoises. A huge mosquito flies overhead.
