Label TextDuring the Qing period, the imperial kiln produced dishes from a wide color palette. According to the archives of the Department of Manufacture in the Imperial Household Office, monochrome chrysanthemum-shaped dishes of twelve color schemes were commissioned in 1733. Cobalt oxide is the catalyst for achieving the dark blue hue under a reduction atmosphere (decreased oxygen in the kiln).
