A Game of Go, from the Four Accomplishments

These paintings were originally sliding door panels at Ryoanji Temple, which is famed for its rock garden. They are part of the set that depicts the four accomplishments—music, playing go, calligraphy, and painting—elegant pastimes for scholar-gentlemen.
