Farmhouse in Autumn Evening

Dateca.1892
Label TextThe composition of this painting is related to that of a well-known work by Bairei entitled Farm House in Autumn that was exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. The artist's creation of the seasonal atmosphere of a rural setting through soft colors and delicate use of wash reflects Bairei's training with the Shijô-school artist Shiokawa Bunrin (1808-1877).
