Kreswick Lake, Cumberland

Date1825
Maker Anthony Vandijke Copley Fielding British, 1787-1855
Label TextFielding, the son of the landscape painter Nathan Fielding, was the most prolific and technically proficient of his four artist siblings. He exhibited frequently at the Society of Painters in Water-Colours and won a gold medal at the Paris Salon of 1824. Keswick Lake is located in the Lake District of Cumbria in northern England. The ruggedness of the region held the same appeal for tourists as the remote hinterlands of Scotland.
