Onogi Gaku

Japanese, 1924 - 1976

The recipient of numerous awards, this self-taught artist worked in painting, drawing, and printmaking. Here, Onogi Gaku created an abstract landscape print utilizing a stunning array of shades of blue. His mastery over color and shading is apparent. By peering closely, the variations in color create subtle lines and forms that develop weight and shape. Here, a close inspection reveals a round, circular form opening to expose another circular form inside.
