"Objects belonging to a Maasai elder come next. The first is a mancala game, played by elders on a daily basis, often under a tree. Then there is an authority staff, which you cannot carry if you are not authorized by the community. Every new elected chief or leader of our community is honored with an authority staff and he must carry it every time he goes to meetings. There is a flywhisk made of giraffe tail he must also carry." (Kakuta Hamisi, 2001)
