Label TextThree young community activists carrying the stars and stripes of American flags are part of a famous five-day march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. While the first march ended tragically with tear gas and brutal beatings, Dr. King and his followers persevered. Dan Budnik says the march was "one of the finest moments of my life… hopefully the images convey my point of view, like that of Dr. King's, showing non-violence as the best way to effect political and social change. Anything less will always diminish the future of the human race."
