Dish with foliated rim and Chinese landscape

late 15th to early 16th century

This dish features a charming landscape design in the center with thirteen lotus petals enclosing gong-shaped clouds on the cavetto. The richness of the cobalt underglaze and the elegant decoration reveal why such wares were valued throughout Asia.
