Marcel Duchamp

French, (active in the United States), 1887 - 1968

Marcel Duchamp, the pioneer of the Dada movement, gives this late self-portrait an innovative twist. He makes the image by silk-screening the negative space in blue and allowing the color of the paper to form the shape of the silhouette.
