Garniture of three vases

This rare American garniture of vases essentially represented two complete sets-placed on the mantelpiece the owner could show romantic, sepia-toned landscapes and then turn the vases to feature colorful floral bouquets. They were produced by Tucker, the first successful porcelain factory in America, at a time when the United States was looking to France's new republic with admiration. American artists adopted the classically clean lines, symmetry and restrained gilding of French porcelain.
