Swan Song

Date1998
Maker Darren Waterston American, born 1965
Label TextSeeing Hieronymous Bosch in Lisbon was one turning point for Darren Waterston. Swan Song was created during a time when he was living on Denman Island in British Columbia, Canada. Evidence of his fascination with the floating landscapes and elegant silhouettes of Asian art is discernible, but the work also mixes in observation of the process of decay, as a butterfly and swans pose betwixt oozing and brackish planes.
