Autumn Moon

2008

Susan Point

Musqueam, Canadian, born 1951

“I have often drawn inspiration from the landscape in British Columbia, and was inspired to create this piece during a camping trip to the Kootenays. My family (including five of my grandchildren) took a trip to Kootenay Lake, where we saw a school of Kokanee (land-locked salmon) swimming through the tributary waters getting ready to spawn. Swirling beneath the surface, the rich colors of the Kokanee are illuminated by the reflection of the full autumn moon, represented by the soft grey circular background.” — Susan Point
