Square bowl
ca. 2000
These large vessels are Kim Yik-yung's recent sculptural works in the form of containers, exhibited at the 5th Cheongju International Craft Biennale in Korea. The simple and massive shape of thick clay walls features a textured surface that reveals subtle coloration within the white color, often seen on this artist's work. It evokes an impression of the traces of chisel and hammer work that are left upon traditional wooden or metal ware.
