Kim Yik-yung

Korean, born 1935

Introduced to the beauty of Choson white porcelain by the British potter Bernard Leach, Kim Yik-yung has spent her career exploring the possibilities of this elegant ceramic ware. The artist has produced simple vessels for daily living as well as contemporary art objects unconcerned with functionality. These recent sculptural works reveal Kim Yik-yung's interest in erasing the boundaries between traditional and modern, craft and fine art.
