Like a Setting Sun (South G. Street, Tacoma, WA)

2008

Gretchen Bennett

American, born 1960

Bennett is drawn to Cobain as a way to address the peculiarities of the Northwest and her own development here. This work is from an ongoing group of drawings made from video stills of movies and film footage featuring Cobain and others portraying him.The intensely-worked color pencil drawing belies a sense of loving devotion to Kurt's memory, as if trying to hold on to him through this act.
