Maker Dan Webb American, born 1965
Label TextSeattle-based Webb often refers to himself as a carver, and his obvious proficiency in shaping wood to his desire is evident in this work. This figure resonates within our collective memory of recent historical events-such as the atrocities at Abu Ghraib-but remains hauntingly ambiguous. Seen within the setting of a museum, it could also depict a bust under wraps, offering an atypical and unmonumental sculptural statement.
