John Goodwin (Nytom)

American, Makah, born 1948

This bold, unconventional design uses time-honored Makah whaler imagery to advertise an art exhibition. According to the artist, it tells a story about how the whalers would try to take the power of whaling from one another. The Bent Box Gallery was established in 1977 and was the leading First Nations gallery in Vancouver in the 1980s.
