Sam in the Garden

1983

Alden Mason

American, 1919 - 2013

Extending his reach, Mason again abandoned the brush for a more unconventional tool to express his non-linear approach to drawing. Sam in the Garden was completed using chopsticks, enabling the artist to break with a traditional application in an attempt to discover a new way of working with and describing form with paint.
