Covered box

Covered box

14th-15th century

This charming covered box with a light milky grey glaze and a mango-shaped finial represents an important class of Thai ceramics from the Sawankhalok kilns. The lively vegetal design enclosed by circular bands reveals a finely-developed language of ornament.
