Je Antelope mask
early-mid 20th century
A master carver stretches animal horns into graceful blades on this mask. The Dye performer emerged at dawn from the sacred forest to leap with formidable energy and join a crew of other animal masks. Their combined force once announced a time for serious decision-making, and for people to acknowledge higher authorities than themselves.
