Betrayal (I & II)

2011-2013

William Cordova

Peruvian, born 1971

Cordova’s drawings and collages combine references from music, literature, history, and politics—from Moby Dick to Simón Bolívar, the art and culture of the ancient Incas to graffiti and hip hop. His works are deceptively casual. Many depict scattered arrangements, such as air conditioning units and large candles, piles of records, and cast-off items arranged like unconventional backyard still lifes.
