Oval Sauce Tureen with cover and stand

Label TextThis work was a gift from the collection of Frances McDougall, an original member of the Seattle Ceramic Society beginning in the mid-1940s.
Each piece is colorfully painted on either side or in the center with a floral bouquet and scattered floral sprigs. The tureens and covers are slightly molded, the cover with a gilt-heightened scroll handle issuing from spiral molding. The rims of the covers and stands are molded at the ends with shell devices and the rim of each piece is edged in gilding. Both pieces bear red anchor marks.
