This drawing was included in the 1973 exhibition Ann Leda Shapiro: Recent Paintings at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. At the time, the feminist movement was accelerating but the exhibition was closed after a few weeks because the artist's depiction of hermaphrodites caused an uproar.
